Making a sand box

Hey Uncle Will, I think my mom and dad must have got this idea from the book you gave them. Here's a "tute" for anyone else who wants a cool sand box like me.

Step 1: Have one very big tree cut down in your yard and have the stump ground down.
Step 2: Dig out any wood chips and dirt that fill the hole.
Step 3: Get 20 feet of high grade lawn edging and a roll of weed barrier.
Step 4: Line hole with sheets of weed barrier.
Step 5: Screw edging into surrounding pieces of tree root.
Step 6: Get bags of sand.
Step 7: Fill hole with sand (20 bags so far).
Step 8: Try not to actually touch the sand - it sticks to your skin and feels yucky.

Camping

Not too long ago, I went camping with my mom and dad. It seemed like a lot of driving, but eventually we got to a place in some woods where mom and dad said we could stop the car.
They had lots of boats at this place. So we took a green one and floated down the river. It was pretty fun, though we didn't have the right kind of snacks. We saw birds and I played with sticks in the water. I had a really good stick and accidentally let go of it in the water. I needed to get it back so I reached and reached, trying to get it. Mom and Dad say that they just barely grabbed my ankles before I fell in, but I'm not so sure about that.
After the boat ride, Dad took me out to feel the water and then I practiced throwing rocks into the water.

Back at camp, we set up our tent and cooked dinner - outside. Pretty crazy. We had some s'mores to fix, but I found that they were better if you skipped the marshmallows and graham crackers.

I was ready to get back in the car and go home because I was pretty tired and wanted to sleep and I didn't think there would be any jamas out in the woods. Luckily, Mom had brought some with, so we just all slept in the tent, in our sleeping bags.
The next morning, we took a couple hikes and then headed home.
I've been practicing taking pictures with the camera all by myself. Do you want to see some? Mostly I do the ceiling and self-portraits. Here are some shots I took on our camping trip.

Cheering on the Cards

I got to go to my second major league baseball game. See my cardinal-red pants? - so everyone knows who I'm cheering for. The game was fun and everything, but the best part was the ice cream. Check it out - one in each hand. That plus popcorn and peanuts, and a ride on the train, made for a pretty nice evening.

Treating Mom right!

Yeah, I know it's a lot closer to Father's Day than Mother's Day, but you won't know what a perfect son I am unless I get to tell you about both days. So, a while back it was Mother's Day and since I like my mom so much, I made sure she got only the very best that day. So, the day included both trains and cake - two of the three very best things in the world, the other being chocolate. Our trip was extra exciting because one of the cars - the one right in front of us - fell off the track. It was like a real Thomas episode - luckily, no one was hurt. Here's the break-down crew fixing the train. So exciting! My Gramma Molly was there, too. I'm sure she likes trains. She helped me fix the cake. No picture - but it was delicious. I like mother's day. Maybe we'll do chocolate and dinosaurs for Father's Day . . .
