Breaking Hearts

We went to a wedding last weekend in Santa Rosa. I was still pretty sleepy from my nap and wasn't sure that I wanted to go but Mom told me there would be cake and dancing, so I decided I could give it a try. Check out my fancy suit! Look out world. I sat very quietly through the ceremony but it really seemed to take a while and so I had to keep checking with Mom and Dad about this promise of cake. "Cake?" Well, it turns out that cake doesn't happen until pretty late in the wedding. Luckily, the music started earlier so I could start dancing. By the time we had cake, all I wanted to do was get back on the dance floor - "Help, please!" I also got to hang out with some other kids. Here's me and my friend, Brooke. She wanted my snack cup, but I was bigger so I just held it where she couldn't get it. She doesn't know about watching your snack cup, though, so I got to help myself to some new kinds of cookies and crackers. It's fun to be the big kid.I took a nap on the way back to the hotel so I could keep partying once we got there. What a fun night! I didn't go to sleep until after 11pm!

summer vacation

I've been taking quite a few trips this summer. One trip was to Montana to see my maama and get my cats. While I was there, I tried out the climbing wall at the playground. You can tell I'm really high up on the wall by my awesome tough-guy sneer. No WALL is going to stop ME!

Here's me at my Me-maama's (great gramma's) house. Oh, does my mouth look funny? Well, that's because it's full of M 'n M's!

I also got to visit with my Aunt Liddi and Uncle Mike.
Here's me cracking open a cold one for my dear sweet auntie.

And I took a camping trip with my mom, my maama, her dog, and my two cats in my maama's truck. Too much driving - not enough camping. You know, camping - cranking up the AC in the camper and eating pizza and ice cream, too. And watching teletubbies on the TV in the camper. Here's me and maama munching on pizza at the KOA by Mount Rushmore. Mount Rushmore was nice but it's too hot there - it made me feel like crying and throwing myself on the ground until someone carried me somewhere with AC.

picking raspberries

Raspberry season is all over here in Missouri, but before they were all gone we went and picked some to make jam.
I just squatted down by the berry box and snacked away. Mmmm. Raspberries are good. Luckily, there were three other pickers there so we still had some to take home with us.

Shootin' Hoops

Maama took me to Toys R Us last week and got me a basketball hoop, so I've been working on my game. The links below show a few clips of me in action. Of course dad missed all my best shots, but he still got some of my good moves.

Warming up.

Almost got it

Still working

Maybe it's my approach . . .

Maybe I should just focus on my style.

Ok, check this one out.

What do you think coach, can I make the team?

Just gotta keep trying, I guess

Celebrating History

As you all know, Saint Louis is the starting and ending point for the Lewis and Clark Journey of Discovery! A few days after they left St. Louis, they passed through the town of St. Charles and now, every year, St. Charles celebrates that visit with Lewis and Clark days. There was a fife and drum marching band. They were kind of loud.

And there were lots of people pretending that it is still the mid-1800's. But with Port-a-potties. And Shop 'n Save Brand non-dairy whipped topping for your strawberry shortcake.

Feeding the Goats

There's a fun place to go around here called Grant's Farm. You get to ride a train to a little zoo where they have goats! And elephants! And chickens! And kangaroos! And monkeys! These are some shots of my first trip in May. I've been several times since then, but this moment here is what has really made a lasting impression on me and my feelings about goats and other things that looks like goats (cows, sheep, horses, donkeys, maybe cats). Look what they do to your shirt! They grab it - they pull on it! Ask me about it and I'll show you what they do. They do this to your pants or shorts too. I don't walk around in the goat pen anymore. No way. Mom and Dad can risk getting eaten by goats if they want to. This is not your shirt little goat! This is Stanley's shirt. That's the Anheuser-Busch eagle there behind us. They run the farm and have their big horses there and tasting room at the end for Mom and Dad.
